SAN-AIR
SAN-AIR was developed out of a need for natural air purification to maximize indoor health, efficiently and effectively detecting and cleansing mould and bacteria. Established by Daniel Massaioli more than eight years ago, we are now a mould expert company with an effective product range. Daniel says ‘the air you breathe is just as important as the blood in your veins, underpinning the SAN-AIR mission. The air within your home, office or venue needs to be clean of bacteria and moulds that can affect your health and wellbeing. Daniel has worked within the pharmaceutical and cosmetics, agricultural, food and beverage, battery, aerosol and other industries and winning the war against mould is his aim. His family history led to the creation of SAN-AIR when his young boys had asthma, and tests found that the boys had reactions to mould and pollen. After careful research, he discovered that very little knowledge was available to combat the mould issue, and SAN-AIR was born. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Pure and Applied Chemistry, determining a resolution was viable, and products Daniel created products that are safe, natural and sustainable. SAN-AIR has conducted years of research and provided a diverse clientele, further developing our expertise. SAN-AIR products comprise one hundred per cent Australian essential oils, so we offer a unique, safe, natural solution to your mould issue. Our mould testing kit is second-to-none. Utilizing a mould testing kit is essential to detect even the slightest mould in your space, and our safe, natural methods and products help you easily clean and maintain that area. You can sleep easier knowing that your home is safe from any airborne disease caused by bacteria and mould. We service residential buildings, large and small offices, commercial and industrial venues, food storage, air-conditioning systems, plus plenty more properties and spaces.
SAN-AIR Products
Detection – A mould testing kit is a crucial product that SAN-AIR provides that is essential for detection. The DIY Mould and Bacteria Test Kit – For Toxic Mould
is critical in combatting toxic mould in your home or business. This mould testing kit can provide information on airborne, surface or water mould presence within five days. This kit is essential for detecting toxic black mould, which can pose serious health risks if left untreated. It features timely test results and two tests per dip slide (each kit has two dip slides) and will tell you where the bad spots are. A chart is provided to check whether your mould level is low, medium or high.
Cleaning – Clean your surfaces with SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover to
immediately remove dust and dirt, which will enable mould and bacteria to grow in the right conditions. After cleaning, leave a fine mist behind the surface to ensure an ongoing impact. This product can be used on any surface, including walls, ceilings, refrigerators, floors, couches and kitchen surfaces. One bottle can treat a five-metre by five-metre area.
Prevention – The SAN-AIR gel evaporates into t
he air, neutralizing all mould and bacteria it comes into contact with. SAN-AIR stops mould from reproducing and neutralizes the mould that has entered your indoor space. Simply place a jar of SAN-AIR Mould Gone in the rooms where you feel most affected by decay. Alternatively, use the SAN-AIR Mould Gone product if you have an air-conditioner. Simply open and place inside the return air vent and run your air conditioner for a few hours. You’ll notice the difference
(remember to keep the doors and windows closed while circulating the air.
Case Studies and Reviews
We have many case studies. One case where SAN-AIR could assist was for a client with recurring respiratory infections and asthma. Utilizing SAN-AIR products, including a mould testing kid and mould, was present. SAN-AIR was able to help by relieving the respiratory issues, reducing the likelihood of spreading infections among family members in the home and decreasing the time spent o work due to infection issues. Another case, this time in an office environment, was when the Facility Manager requested the SAN-AIR products and utilized a mould testing kit to detect mould because of recurring sick team members. The test revealed potential Aspergillus mould contamination, which is known for causing respiratory infections, hence the office staff becoming ill and passing it to the next person. SAN-AIR was able to reduce the presence of mould through the use of the products, and the likelihood of team members getting sick was reduced! A review on the SAN-AIR Test Kits states ‘that the mould test kit is a great product. It works exactly as the website says it does. I had a question, so I sent an email with my query. Daniel called me straight back and was very happy to help. After feeling quite stressed about my health due to suspicions of poor indoor air quality, I now feel con dent that there are steps I can take to resolve and reliable products to use. Thank you. A review on the SAN-AIR Mould Gone Gel states, “Stops Sneezing, got musky smell under control …with-in a day they were happy and no sneezing!”.
SAN-AIR is reliable, natural and effective. The only product to use to win the war against mould!
Mould a natural part of your world
Mould is a natural part of the world we live in. Mould fulfils its role in the food chain; without mould, the ecosystem would crumble. However, like everything, you need balance. Too much mould can cause serious problems. All moulds on the planet can be considered dangerous when talking about concentration levels. The human body can handle a certain amount of mould before it is overwhelmed and begins to break. The major problem is that the human body can take different amounts of mould. This is why we talk about mould being dangerous in terms of concentration. Black mould is considered and widely known as the most dangerous mould because black mould starts to damage the human body even at low concentration levels. Exposure to black mould can lead to allergic reactions, particularly in individuals with respiratory conditions or weakened immune systems. Most people, though, do not get sick from Black mould. Typically the moulds that are affecting them are the standard environmental mould. Moulds that you find in the dirt, plants, water and the wind. These types of moulds often go undetected for an extended period. They tend to blend into your home, and if you are not actively looking for them, you will not see them 90% of the time until they become a severe problem.
So what is the solution?
Prevention is the solution. What is required is to have a system to prevent the mould from growing. If left too long without being addressed, the problem will escalate into a giant physical clean that will
-
be of high cost
-
and be very time-consuming the clean commence.
Prevention systems in place will be cost-effective, but they will significantly reduce any time required to maintain the environment from mould. Preventing mould involves controlling moisture, ensuring proper ventilation, and addressing any leaks or water damage promptly.
Cleaning your home is a regular weekly exercise for most of us. Effective, safe to use, and with no residual negative impacts is essential for the person cleaning, the home and everyone living in the house. How we clean and the products used to clean have changed substantially over the last couple of generations. In the future, not so far, we progress to robots doing the manual labour for us. Many people now already have robot vacuum cleaners.
How many people think about cleaning the air that they breathe?
We talk about clean environments, but how often do we become conscious of the air quality? When we smell something terrible, we see traffic fumes, maybe when we see someone coughing. Essentially, it’s when our senses detect a problem. When it comes to mould, you have a sizeable problem when you see or smell mould! If you have physical symptoms like coughing, sneezing, rashes and other symptoms, you have an even bigger problem. Exposure to mould spores can lead to an allergic reaction, causing symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and skin rashes. There have long been many espoused solutions. In this blog, I can tell you about those that are inferior solutions.
-
Ozone and UV light – are dangerous to humans at the levels needed to be effective.
-
Toxic chemicals – Bleach, Ammonia, etc. Please use these with gloves and face masks. Breathing these in or contact with skin can severely impact humans, especially those with low tolerance levels.
-
Acidic products like vinegar and Baking soda will erode. If you use vinegar in your dishwasher, as is often cited on social media, you may find that your machine internals and rubbers start to deteriorate faster.
-
Filtration methods like filters, carbon filters, photovoltaic filters, HEPA filters etc., do the job of filtering. This means that some things get through. What gets through is determined by the size of the filter. Mould is so tiny that they will always be able to get through. Having run a pharmaceutical manufacturing entity, I can tell you that it does get through.
SAN-AIR products provide a natural solution to indoor mould and bacterial issues.
SAN-AIR offers easy-to-use, natural plant-based solutions to mould and bacteria. Clean your surfaces and your air-effectively and effortlessly with proven, independently tested products. Specialized products are required to effectively remove mould from porous surfaces and prevent regrowth.
There are thousands of known species of moulds, which have diverse lifestyles. They all require moisture for growth, and some live in aquatic environments.
What does mould live on?
Like all fungi, moulds derive energy through the organic matter they live in. Typically, moulds secrete enzymes, mainly from the hyphal tips. These enzymes degrade complex biopolymers such as starch, cellulose and lignin into simpler substances that the hyphae can absorb. In this way, moulds play a significant role in causing the decomposition of organic material, enabling the recycling of nutrients throughout ecosystems.
Moulds also synthesize mycotoxins and siderophores, which, together with lytic enzymes, inhibit the growth of competing microorganisms. Moulds can also grow on stored food for animals and humans, making the food unpalatable or toxic and are thus a significant source of food losses and illness. Many strategies for food preservation(salting, pickling, jams, bottling, freezing, drying) prevent or slow mould growth and the growth of other microbes.
Moulds reproduce by producing large numbers of tiny spores.
Elimination of Black Mould
How mould spores disperse
Some moulds produce tiny, hydrophobic spores that are adapted for wind dispersal and may remain airborne for long periods
Other mould spores have slimy sheaths and are more suited to water dispersal
Spores may cling to clothing or fur
in some, the cell walls are darkly pigmented, providing resistance to damage by ultraviolet radiation
Some can survive extremes of temperature and pressure.
Although moulds can grow on dead organic matter everywhere in nature, their presence is visible to the unaided eye only when they form large colonies. A mould colony is not a discrete organism but an interconnected network of hyphae called a mycelium.
In artificial environments such as buildings, humidity and temperature are often stable enough to foster the growth of mould colonies, commonly seen as a downy or furry coating growing on food or other surfaces. Even after initial removal, mould regrowth can occur if not fully treated, making comprehensive remediation essential.
Mould thrives in a wide range of environments.
When conditions do not enable growth, moulds may remain alive in a dormant state, depending on the species, within an extensive temperature range.
The different mould species vary enormously in their tolerance to temperature, humidity and pressure extremes.
-
Certain moulds can survive harsh conditions such as the snow-covered soils of Antarctica, refrigeration, highly acidic solvents, anti-bacterial soap and even petroleum products such as jet fuel.
-
Xerophilic moulds can grow in relatively dry, salty, or sugary environments.
Why SAN-AIR works and is safe for humans
SAN-AIR is a natural plant-based product. They are brilliantly crafted through years of research into a proprietary mixture that uses specific blend properties to address mould. This blend is a scientific breakthrough in organic chemistry. There are no toxic chemicals in SAN-AIR. We have independent university testing to prove our efficacy. SAN-AIR’s natural formula is designed to kill mould spores, ensuring a thorough and lasting solution. Get results in 24-48 hours, naturally. A day on the water is beautiful, but not everyone loves to clean the boat afterwards, and guests often skip off quickly at the end of the day. Keeping your vessel clean entails several things, including waxing the hull, cleaning windshields, flushing the Livewell, rinsing the deck and cleaning the interior and upholstery. With this last, you want to ensure the longevity and newness of your interiors as much as possible.
How do we maintain the interiors and keep them free from mould by preventing mould?
Firstly, DO NOT USE BLEACH – this is not good for the environment or your interiors. Bleach will degrade your interior fabrics, and it will not stop mould. It only burns the top of the mould. Using bleach can be harmful as both the mould and bleach fumes can pose health risks.
Start a simple cleaning regime with SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover to clean your surfaces. Finish off with a fine mist spray on the surface and leave to dry to give you a longer-lasting effect. For the cabin, while in between boat usage, open a jar of SAN-AIR Caravan, Boat, Storage Mould Remover and leave inside the cabin doors closed. This product was designed to cater for mould build-up from either freshwater or saltwater boat usage.

Common allergic triggers of asthma
The National Asthma Council Australia states, “The most common allergic triggers of asthma are house dust mites, pets, pollen and mould.” Black mould growth in homes can significantly worsen asthma symptoms, making it crucial to address any mould issues promptly. “Even though complete allergen avoidance does not cure asthma, reducing exposure to your allergen triggers may improve your asthma control and make your asthma symptoms easier to manage.”
What is asthma?
Asthma is a disease of the airways – which are the breathing tubes that carry air into our lungs. An overreaction of our immune system triggers asthma. This overreaction causes airways inflammation, giving rise to that breathing anomaly called asthma. Chinese medicine identifies 4000 manifestations of asthma. The trigger that concerns us here is the one that exposure to mould spores can cause. Respected bodies like WHO state that severe mould exists in 25-65% of indoor spaces. But 98% of indoor space has been shared with mould. The inescapable truth is that more and more diseases can be linked to a mould exposure trigger.
Who develops asthma?
-
Over 2.5 million Australians have asthma – about 1 in 10 adults and about 1 in 9 or 10 children.
-
Asthma and allergies are closely linked. Asthma is more common in families with allergies, but not everyone with asthma has allergies.
-
Adults of any age can develop asthma, even if they do not have asthma.
-
Some people have asthma during childhood but later have very few or no symptoms as adults.
-
Many preschool children who wheeze do not have asthma by primary school age.
-
Indoor and outdoor pollution (including moulds, gases, chemicals, particles and cigarette smoke) can increase the risk of developing asthma.
-
Athletes can develop asthma after intensive training, especially while breathing polluted, cold or dry air.
Asthma action plans
Every adult and child with asthma should have their own personalized, written asthma action plan prepared with their doctor.
How can SAN-AIR help neutralize the mould trigger?

Our products are made using plant-based actives and do not contain toxic chemicals. We know our products are SAFE for you, your family and your pets. A two-pronged approach is recommended.

You can probably reduce surface cleaning to a quarterly exercise if you maintain your air cleaning regime with SAN-AIR.

Very carefully use the SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover to spray the silvery fins; repeat as many times as you need for them to appear clean (periodically check that the machine’s drain pipe does not get clogged, and if so, clear it)
-
Using a second spray bottle filled with clean bottled water, rinse off the fins, ensuring the water you are using drains properly through the standard drain tube.
-
Allow to drip dry for 10 minutes.
-
Apply a fine mist of SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover and let the air dry. Coils should now look clean.
Get the following products to commence your clean

Now for the filters
-
Take the filters to the laundry sink and wash well with water
-
Shake outside or in the sink to remove most of the water
-
Use SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover to spray the filters, and allow them to sit for 5-10 minutes
-
Then shake excess solution free and rinse off with water
-
Repeat step 3, shake excess solution off, then allow to air dry
-
Use any spare SAN-AIR Surface Mould Remover to wipe down the outside of the split system
-
Replace the filters (Before you do replace filters, make sure you have not wet accidentally any electrical part of the machine. If so, seek professional help)
-
Close the cover of the device and run the air-conditioner for 10 minutes to encourage drying out
Between cleans
After completing step 8 above, install a SAN-AIR Split System Sanitizer pack behind the filter or SAN-AIR Mould Gone on top of the machine (replace these every 8-12 weeks for ongoing mould prevention)
How often to clean?

So you have mould in your home, and you just don’t know where it is, what’s causing it or how to find it. The good news is that we can help solve your problems. Often the first sign that you have mould is the smell. You will be able to detect a foul odour coming from somewhere in your indoor airspace environment. The smell is usually the first identifier because mould typically grows in places you can’t see or don’t get to clean too often. Of course, the ultimate goal is to ensure that you don’t get mould growing, but let’s face it, everybody, and I mean everybody, gets mould problems somewhere. Mould requires four things to grow:
-
Water / Moisture
-
A temperature between 18 – 30 degrees
-
Oxygen
-
Mould spores
Suppose all of these things are present in any given place. You are going to have mould growing. If you have people in the house coughing, being sick constantly, or having trouble breathing. So how do you know how bad the mould situation is? The first thing to do is identify where the mould is located. You can use the SAN-AIR Mould and Bacteria Test Kit to do this. It’s straightforward and only takes a week to get your results. How to use:
-
Open one of the ampules and place it on the surface, inside your air-conditioner or in your water for up to a minute.
-
Place back inside the ampule and write on it the location that this particular sample was taken from
-
Wait a week, then check the ampule and compare it to the graph on the instruction inside the box.
Now, if you do not feel confident with reading accurate results, you can send the ampules back to us at SAN-AIR, and we will analyze you. You can view the test kits here: SAN-AIR DIY Mould and Bacteria Test Kits We at SAN-AIR focus all of our attention on the safe and easy removal of mould. We are mould experts. Our products are made in Australia with 100% natural and organic ingredients.
