House Cleaning Sydney
House Cleaning Tips and Tricks
You’re relaxing at home in Sydney, sipping coffee, flipping through the paper, and thinking about how the house really could use a good cleaning, but it’s just not going to happen today. The next thing you know, your phone rings or you get a text message from a friend or relative saying, “We’re in the area and thought we’d drop by. We’ll be there in about 15 minutes.” It’s times like this when knowing how to clean the house fast that can come in handy. You need brilliant cleaning hacks for 2019.
Check out the following quick house cleaning tips and tricks and learn how to fake clean your home when that company clock starts counting down.
1. Rally the Troops
First things first, if you have family members who can help you, call them front and centre and start delegating tasks to them. Tip: If you have very young children, make sure you give them age-appropriate chores that won’t need your supervision, such as putting their toys away or wiping down bathroom surfaces.
2. Clear Countertops and Pick Up Floors
Countertops are some of the most cluttered places in the home and floors can get overrun with pet toys, discarded shoes or stacks of papers and boxes. Now is not the time to sort and purge. Rather, you’ll want to toss everything in an empty laundry basket or bin and place it in a closet. You can deal with letting go of clutter after your guests leave.
3. Close Doors
Out of sight is out of mind. If the kids’ rooms look like a toy factory exploded or you didn’t bother making the bed and picking up your discarded yoga gear, simply shut the door. What your visitors don’t know about the state of your bedrooms won’t hurt them.
4. Clean What They’ll See
Most likely, your visit will take place in one room of the house, so you’ll want to focus on that area during your quick house cleaning. In addition, you should clean the bathroom, as there’s a good chance guests will pop in for a powder before they leave. Here are some areas to keep in mind when you’re trying to figure out how to clean the house fast.
Entryways
Your entryway or foyer is one of the first areas guests will see. Give it a quick tidy with the following house cleaning tips and tricks:
- Organize shoes on shoe racks
- Straighten coats that are hanging
- Toss clutter in a laundry basket and store that in a closet
- Quickly wipe down any table surfaces with a microfiber cloth
- Run the vacuum on the entryway floor and welcome mats
Bathrooms
It’s almost certain that guests will need to use your bathroom when they visit. Make sure you don’t skip these steps when fake cleaning the house:
- Pull shower curtains or doors closed
- Hit bath mats with a handheld vacuum (If they’re dry)
- Put out fresh towels
- Pick up clothing or discarded towels from floors or door hooks
- Clear toiletries from vanities and counters and stash them under the sink
- Wipe down the toilet top and tank, as well as the sink bowl, counter and faucets
- Give the toilet bowl a quick scrub
Living rooms
If your visit will be taking place in the living room, there are several quick house-cleaning tips and tricks you can employ in 15 minutes:
- Give the room a quick dusting (and don’t forget to look up at light fixtures and ceiling fans)
- With a microfiber cloth, wipe down coffee tables, the visible edges of bookshelves and electronic screens
- Organize magazines and remotes on coffee tables or in baskets
- Vacuum the entire room
- Grab the upholstery attachment and vacuum furniture and drapes, especially if you have pets
- Fluff couch cushions
Kitchens
Visits with good friends or relatives often take place in the kitchen. If you’re quickly cleaning the house for an unexpected company that you’re very familiar with, make sure to tackle these tasks:
- Clear clutter from counters and tabletops and tuck those items away in a drawer or cupboard
- Give tables, cabinets, the fridge and counters a pass with a microfiber cloth
- Wipe down food splatters on and near your stove
- Place dishes in the dishwasher or, if you don’t have one of these magical appliances, rinse dishes and neatly stack them in the sink

Clean Your House in 15 Minutes
Housekeeping refers to the management of duties and chores involved in the running of a household, such as cleaning, cooking, home maintenance, shopping, and bill payment. These tasks may be performed by members of the household, or by other persons hired for the purpose. This is a more broad role than a cleaner, who is focused only on the cleaning aspect.[1] The term is also used to refer to the money allocated for such use.[2] By extension, it may also refer to an office or organization, as well as the maintenance of computer storage systems.[3]
A housekeeper is a person employed to manage a household[4] and the domestic staff. According to the 1861 Victorian era Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management, the housekeeper is second in command in the house and “except in large establishments, where there is a house steward, the housekeeper must consider his/herself as the immediate representative of her mistress”.[5]
House tidying
Before a house can be cleaned, it first needs to be tidied up. This is an organized process that can include activities such as picking up toys, clothes, books etc off the floor. Also organizing items on benches and tables and putting them in their correct spot. Without tidying first, it can hinder or prevent proper cleaning. Organizing out-of-place items create a clean space to allow you to deep clean which involves cleaning dirt buildup and areas that are hard to reach and clean regularly, such as ceiling fans, vents, and door frames.[6]

House Cleaning Tips and Tricks
Housekeeping includes housecleaning, that is, disposing of rubbish, cleaning dirty surfaces, dusting, and vacuuming. It may also involve some outdoor chores, such as removing leaves from rain gutters, washing windows, and sweeping doormats. The term housecleaning is often used also figuratively in politics and business, for the removal of unwanted personnel, methods, or policies in an effort at reform or improvement.[7]
Housecleaning is done to make the home look and smell better and to make it safer and easier to live in. Without housecleaning, lime scale can build upon taps, mold grows in wet areas, smudges appear on glass surfaces, dust forms on surfaces, bacterial action makes the garbage disposal and toilet smell and cobwebs accumulate. Tools used in housecleaning include vacuums, brooms, mops and sponges, together with cleaning products such as detergents, disinfectants and bleach.
Laundry
One role of a housekeeper is often laundry such as; washing, folding, and packing away laundry items. Other duties may involve monitoring and changing bed linen and ironing.[8]
Removal of refuse
Disposal of rubbish is an important aspect of house cleaning. Plastic bags are designed and manufactured specifically for the collection of refuse. Many are sized to fit common waste baskets and trash cans. Bags are made to carry aluminium cans, glass jars, and other things; most people use plastic bins for glass since it could break and tear through the bag. Recycling some kinds of rubbish is possible.[9]
Dusting
Over time dust accumulates on household surfaces. As well as making the surfaces dirty, when the dust is disturbed it can become suspended in the air, causing sneezing and breathing trouble. It can also transfer from furniture to clothing, making it unclean. Various tools have been invented for dust removal: feather dusters, cotton, and polyester dust cloths, furniture spray, disposable paper “dust cloths”, dust mops for smooth floors, and vacuum cleaners. Vacuum cleaners often have a variety of tools to enable them to remove dirt not just from carpets and rugs, but also from hard surfaces and upholstery.[10] Dusting is very important in hospital environments.[11]
Removal of dirt
Examples of dirt or “soil” are detritus and common spills and stains in the home. Equipment used with a cleaner might include a bucket sponge or a rag. A modern tool is the spray bottle, but the principle is the same.
Many household chemicals are used in cleaning, scrubbing, and washing surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom. House cleaning tips and tricks.
Tools
Brooms remove debris from floors dustpans carry dust and debris swept into them, buckets hold cleaning and rinsing solutions, vacuum cleaners and carpet sweepers remove surface dust and debris, chamois leather and squeegees are used for window-cleaning, and mops are used for washing floors.[12] To ensure safety, protective apparel including rubber gloves, face covers, and protective eyewear is also sometimes used when dealing with chemical cleaning products.[13][citation needed]
Yard
A home’s yard and exterior are sometimes subject to cleaning. Exterior cleaning also occurs for safety, upkeep, and usefulness. It includes the removal of litter and grass growing in sidewalk cracks.
Social significance
While housekeeping can be seen as an objective activity that can be done by either men or women, some people have argued that housekeeping is a site of historical oppression and gender division between men and women.[14] Housekeeping also has a role in maintaining certain parts of the capitalist economy, including the division of home and work life, as well as industries that sell chemicals and household goods.
A survey conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2014 came to the result that approximately 43 per cent of men did food preparation or cleanup on any given day, compared with approximately 70 per cent of women. In addition, 20 per cent of men did housekeeping chores (including cleaning and laundry) on any given day, compared to approximately 50 per cent of women.[15]
The Swedish practice of döstädning (“death cleaning”), a simple living ethic and aesthetic with the primary focus of not burdening your heirs with your belongings,[16] is a permanent form of household organization[17] that also focuses on keeping only strongly valued possessions.[18]
Cleaning is the process of removing unwanted substances, such as dirt, infectious agents, and other impurities, from an object or environment. Cleaning is often performed for aesthetic, hygienic, functional, environmental, or safety purposes. Cleaning occurs in many different contexts and uses many different methods. Several occupations are devoted to cleaning.
Contexts
Cleaning occurs in various commercial, domestic, personal, and environmental contexts, which differ in scale and requirements.
- Commercial cleaning, in business or other commercial settings
- Terminal cleaning, in healthcare settings
- Environmental remediation is the removal of pollution or contaminants from the natural environment
- Housekeeping, including spring cleaning
